Twisting Tails

Twirling Tails (Magic Puppy)Twirling Tails by Sue Bentley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are seven different books of Magic Puppy and Twirling Tails is the seventh. On the back of each book shows the books of Magic Puppy.

The puppy in Twirling Tails had its name as Storm and his real self was just a silver wolf. He's going to become the leader of the Moon-Claw pack. The evil Shadow wants to become the leader and he's using his evil magic on normal dogs, but you can tell them from ordinary dogs because they've got pale eyes and extra sharp teeth.

I am going to get more Magic Puppy books from the library. The first one I'm going to get is going to be School of Mischief.

The Adventures of AlfieThe Adventures of Alfie by Marjorie Gee

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Alfie is a kaka, a special type of parrot. Alfie is a nice parrot and he's been in 3 cages (though the 3rd cage was just being free). My best part was when Alfie stole someone's sandwich! I would like to meet Alfie at the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary in Wellington where he lives.

Tintin in the Congo

Tintin Au CongoTintin Au Congo by Hergé

We read the English version of this book, which isn't on GoodReads but it was in our library. As parents, we could see the problems with the book, but any racism passed totally over our six-year old son's head. He's smart enough we're not worried about him reading it. - Marcus' Mum

Marcus says: They hunted down lions and leopards and elephants and even a snake.

Tintin and the Lake of Sharks

Tintin and the Lake of SharksTintin and the Lake of Sharks by Hergé

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tintin escaped thousands and I think a few tens of pirate sharks. (They weren't real sharks, just evil people.) The submarine that the sharks were in got stranded on a rock and Tintin and the Captain and Snowy all together caught them and made them prisoners. Kids helped them too, and guess what? First the sharks made Tintin and the kids prisoners, then they had them prisoners! Funny, huh? When the water had thrown the giant ball onto the little switch a bomb exploded and guess what? The sea made a ginormous spout. The Captain thought Tintin and the kids were dead, but they had gotten life-jackets on just in time.

Komodo the Lizard King

Komodo the Lizard King (Beast Quest)Komodo the Lizard King by Adam Blade

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When Tom grabbed Komodo's tail, Komodo ran off just when Tom jumped onto his tail, but when Komodo ran off, Tom was staying in one place and still holding the tail! (It was because Komodo was no other than the lizards that could have their tails put off by themselves when something grabbed it.) When he got defeated, just like Muro the Rat Monster, he turned thousands of tail-breaking off lizards.

Cigars of the Pharaoh was cool because Tintin and Snowy survived so much bad things.

The Blue Lotus was cool because there was a dragon!

Bringing Up Baby Dragons

Bringing Up Baby Dragons (Dragonology)Bringing Up Baby Dragons by Dugald A. Steer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It told us a lot about dragon care. There were different types of eggs we could do and different types of breeds. Dr Drake, the author, has got a dragon named Torcher. I'm going to make a knuckler dragon (the knuckler is the dragon with the long neck). I think Kerry would love the knuckler because it's so cutey. I saw a dragon who laid such a cool egg. It was called the lung dragon. It had a ball shaped egg that went in water.

Chasing the Tunnelling Trickster

Chasing the Tunnelling Trickster: Dinosaur Cove 13Chasing the Tunnelling Trickster: Dinosaur Cove 13 by Rex Stone

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really liked this because it is about dinosaurs, which are my favourite animals besides dragons. The tunnelling trickster was a lystrosaurus and it has powerful claws that can dig a tunnel. The tunnelling trickster took Jamie's rucksack to use it as a bed! Ha ha ha! The tunnelling trickster also ate sume of the pickle sandwiches. Funny! Do you think pickle sandwiches would taste nice? I wouldn't think that would be nice!

Jamie and Tom use an ammonite to get to different places, but first they have to go in the sandbox and dig up the ammonites and they have to look for the right one for where they want to go by looking at the big glass case that has got ammonites in it that are labelled. There are: Permian, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous.

Viking Ships at Sunrise

Viking Ships at Sunrise (Magic Tree House, #15)Viking Ships at Sunrise by Mary Pope Osborne

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book gets five stars because I really like Vikings.

I wish that Vikings were alive at this time, but they're not.

I liked it two times: When the sea serpent saved Jack and Annie from a sinking Viking ship and when Annie found two little Vikings helmets for Jack and her.

They had to find a jewelled book that was made by Brother Michael. Jack used the book to make the sea serpent come and it brought them to shore.

I felt good when I read the story.

Dragons Live Forever

Dragons Live ForeverDragons Live Forever by Robert Edward Swindells

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really liked the baby, mother and father dragons. I liked the dragons on the cover. I liked the mother and father on the back because of the blue wings.

I liked the selling dragons.

I like the part when you just had to do one thing: just squeeze it's tail so that it bends and then a tongue of fire comes out and you can use it on anything that needs fire.

Epos the Flame Bird

Epos the Flame Bird (Beast Quest)Epos the Flame Bird by Adam Blade

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I spilled my dinner on this book. Luckily it has a plastic library cover and it was okay.

Both the scale from the first beast and the thing from Tagus the horseman worked together to save Tom from a moat of lava because the scale protects Tom from fire (lava is like fire).

Epos gave Tom a sharp talon.

I liked the part when Tom found a bit of armour and it had these two signs: a tiny hammer sign and the letters T A L A.

The Shooting Star

The Shooting Star (The Adventures of Tintin)The Shooting Star by Hergé

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My favourite characters were Tintin and Snowy, his dog. At the beginning Tintin saw a giant ball of fire heading for Earth. When he looked through the Professor's giant telescope he saw the meteorite (the metorite was the ball of fire) with a giant spider on it! But when he went to the top of the telescope (where the lens is), he saw that the spider was actually just a tiny one walking on the lens! Snowy laughed that the spider was just tiny and at the end of his laugh he said "This thing will kill me!"
